Pediatric urgent care fills the gap between your child’s regular pediatrician and the emergency room. Your child may run a fever in the evening or twist an ankle at a weekend game. You need answers fast. Care+ Pediatrics offers walk-in visits with extended evening and weekend hours at clinics in Oklahoma City and Edmond. We treat sudden illnesses and minor injuries in a family-friendly setting designed for kids.
Your visit starts when you walk in or save your spot online. A provider examines your child, reviews the symptoms, and orders any tests your child needs. Our clinics offer on-site diagnostics, so evaluation, testing, and treatment often happen in a single visit. Many families are in and out in less than an hour.
Our on-site diagnostics include digital X-rays for possible fractures and sprains. We also offer rapid tests for flu, COVID-19, RSV, strep throat, and mononucleosis, with results in minutes. Blood draws, urine tests, and EKGs round out the testing available at each clinic.
Treatment depends on what your provider finds. Care options include stitches and wound care, splints, walking boots, slings, crutches, breathing treatments, IV fluids, and prescriptions when appropriate. Your provider explains the treatment plan before you leave.
Urgent care is a good fit when your child needs to be seen today for a condition that is not life-threatening. We coordinate with your child’s primary pediatrician for continued care or specialist referrals when needed. Telehealth appointments give you another option when a trip to the clinic is not practical.

Fever, Cough, and Flu Symptoms
We evaluate fevers, coughs, congestion, and cold or flu symptoms. Rapid flu, COVID-19, and RSV testing helps our providers find the cause. Breathing treatments are available for asthma and other respiratory conditions.
Sore Throat and Strep Throat
A sore throat can come from several causes. Our rapid strep and mono tests give your provider answers during the visit, so you leave with a clear plan.
Ear Pain and Ear or Sinus Infections
Our providers examine your child’s ears and sinuses to check for infection. You get a treatment plan that fits your child’s needs.
Sprains, Strains, and Possible Fractures
Sprains affect ligaments. Strains affect muscles. Digital X-rays help us check for a broken bone. We provide splints, walking boots, slings, and crutches with clear instructions for home.
Cuts, Scrapes, and Minor Burns
Some wounds need more than a bandage. We clean and dress wounds, place stitches when needed, and manage minor burns while keeping your child calm and comfortable.
Vomiting, Diarrhea, and Dehydration
Stomach pain, nausea, and fluid loss can wear a child down. Your provider assesses your child and can give IV fluids or nausea medication when appropriate.
Rashes and Skin Irritations
Our providers evaluate new rashes and irritated skin. We help you understand the likely cause and the next steps for care.
Urinary Concerns and UTIs
On-site urine tests help our providers diagnose urinary tract infections and bladder infections during your visit.
Objects in the Ear, Nose, or Stomach
Kids put toys, coins, buttons, and food where they do not belong. We remove objects from the ear and nose and use X-rays to check swallowed items.
Minor Head Injuries
Our providers evaluate head bumps and concussions. A head injury with loss of consciousness or unusual behavior needs the emergency room.

A Pediatric Team Rooted in Oklahoma
Dr. Justin Pespisa moved to Oklahoma and opened Care+ Pediatrics in 2022. He saw the need for high-quality pediatric urgent care while working as an attending physician in a pediatric emergency department. Our providers bring years of hands-on experience with children, including nearly a decade at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital and neonatal intensive care work at Integris Baptist Medical Center. Two of our nurse practitioners are from the metro. We work alongside local pediatricians and specialists so your child’s care stays connected after an urgent visit.

Justin Pespisa, MD
Dr. Pespisa attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his pediatrics residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He then served as an attending physician in Vanderbilt’s pediatric emergency department. That work showed him the need for dedicated pediatric urgent care, and he founded Care+ Pediatrics in 2022.
Ami Whitley, PNP
Ami is a pediatric nurse practitioner from Oklahoma City and a graduate of the University of South Alabama. She cared for children at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital for nearly 10 years, in the emergency department and on the medical and surgical floors. Ami advocates for the health of Oklahoma’s children.
Nidhi Desai, FNP
Nidhi is from Edmond. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Exercise Science and Nursing from the University of Oklahoma and her Master of Nursing in 2022. She spent six years as a neonatal ICU nurse at hospitals including Integris Baptist Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, caring for premature and critically ill newborns and infants.

Devin is a pediatric nurse practitioner from Norman, Oklahoma. She graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing before earning her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama.
Melyssa, DNP, PNP
Melyssa is a pediatric nurse practitioner originally from Newport, Washington. She graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from The University of Arizona in 2022.
Ashlyn Ahrens, PA
Ashlyn Ahrens is a physician assistant from Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating from the OU-TU School of Community Medicine in 2018. Prior to becoming a provider at Care+, Ashlyn provided primary care for pediatric patients at Ascension St John Pediatrics for four years, followed by two years of emergency care at St Francis in the Pediatric Emergency Center.

Walk-ins are welcome at all three clinics. Every location is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pediatric Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room
Both settings treat children. They serve different needs. Pediatric urgent care handles conditions that need prompt attention and are not life-threatening. The emergency room handles severe and life-threatening situations.
When Urgent Care Is the Right Choice
Our providers recommend urgent care for cold or flu-like symptoms, sore throats, ear or sinus infections, wounds that need stitches, sprains or possible fractures, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, rashes, and objects stuck in the ear or nose. Urgent care also saves you time and money: our average wait is under 10 minutes, compared with three to four hours at the ER, and our average co-pay of $25 to $70 compares with $150 to $500 at the ER.
When to Go to the Emergency Room
Our clinicians advise going to the emergency room right away if your child shows serious warning signs. An infant younger than 60 days with a fever of 100.4°F or higher needs ER care. So does a child with severe difficulty breathing, a seizure, or a head injury with loss of consciousness or behavior that is not normal. Large, gaping wounds that may need extensive stitches belong in the ER. The same goes for a broken bone that looks deformed or dislocated and for swallowed button batteries or multiple magnets. Call 911 if your child’s life is in danger.
